v. 0.30, 21 October 2004

Please note that the following list of TLD's are BANNED from commenting on any blogs on the knipe.org.uk domain.
  • .de
  • .ru
  • .info
If you have a domain ending in the above and believe you should be allowed to comment let me know. I reserve the right to keep the blanket ban, all I have ever seen from these domains is spam.

Some posts allow readers to post comments. On these posts, anyone may post a comment; no form of registration is required. Comments show up immediately.

Anonymous posting is not allowed therefore an email address is required, a valid email address should be given if you wish to enter into a discussion - it will not be sold or used for any nefarious purpose. All weblogs I run are configured to NEVER show the email address.

However, this is not a democracy, nor is it an open forum. I reserve the exclusive right to moderate all comments posted on my site after the fact, including but not limited to:
  • Deleting or otherwise marking up or altering any comments which contain flames or any kind of attack on me, my family, friends or anyone else in the community

You may disagree with me or anything that I say but keep it civil, any abuse of any description will be frowned upon and I will use all means at my disposal to ensure that you are banned from the site if possible.

  • Deleting off-topic comments

This rule is simple: keep your comment on-topic and it won't get deleted.

If you want to discuss something there's an email link in the sidebar, use it.

Do not use the commenting facilty on one post to comment on another where the commenting facility is disabled. Not all posts have comments enabled, and this is intentional. Some posts have comments enabled for a limited time, and then no more comments may be added; this is also intentional.

  • Deleting (or otherwise altering) comments which contain links sites run for commercial advantage

Comments that include irrelevant links to commercial sites will be deleted or altered immediately they are noticed, and posters will be banned by all available means, including being entered into a blacklist.

  • Deleting comments that include offensive language

Another simple one, don't do it!
Trackbacks (if enabled) will be considered remote comments and subject to the same rules.

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, and this page and policy are a work in progress and will be added to over time.
